Roleplay Journal

Features / Share with your players

Share. Don't tell.

Players want a hand in the world, not a seat in the audience. Give each of them exactly the pieces of it that their characters would know, when they would learn it.

Start a campaign

You choose who sees what.

Every city, location, faction, character, scene and note starts as yours alone. Open it to the whole party, or to specific players: the rogue with a guild contact in the next city learns about her, and nobody else does.

How to Invite players and choose what they see

Invite players

  1. Open your campaign and go to Settings.
  2. Under Invite players, press Copy link and send it to your table. Or press Copy code: they enter it on My Home.
  3. Players are always free but need an account. If the link gets shared too widely, press Make a new code.

Choose what they see

Everything you add starts hidden. On any city, location, faction, character, scene or note, open Seen by and choose Only the GM, Specific people (then pick them) or Everyone in the campaign.

Anything new lights up for a player until they have seen it.

Check before you play

In the sidebar, the Your role: GM menu lets you view the campaign as one player, or as Everyone in the campaign. You see exactly what they see. Press Go back to GM mode when done.

Observers can read what is shared and nothing else. Opinions are never shown to players. Players can add their own notes, which you and they can see, and they can share them.

New notes show up the moment you share them.

Write a note, share it, and it appears on your players' screens right away, with no refresh and no message in the group chat. Anything new is flagged, so players can see at a glance what has changed since they last looked, and tick it off once they have read it. Your campaign's front page lists the most recently shared first.

Switch your role to any player, or to "everyone in the campaign", and the whole site redraws as they would see it: what's highlighted, what's hidden, what a page will and won't open. It's read-only, so nothing you click can change what the real player sees.

Players keep notes too.

Each player writes their own notes, private until they choose to share them. They can discuss what their character knows, or keep a secret, and you decide how much of the table's information flows between them.

Questions we hear

Can players change my campaign?
They can add their own notes. Everything else is read-only for them.

I shared something too soon.
Set it back to "Only the GM" and it is gone from their view.
