This free NPC generator gives you a character you can put in front of your players in seconds: a name, an occupation, an age, a social standing, an attitude, a voice, a motivation and a physical description, plus a number for how they feel about the party. Roll again whenever you need another face for a tavern, a market stall or a roadside encounter.
Use it as it comes, or steer it. Choose how descriptive you want the result, start from an occupation (pick one from the list or type your own), or set a social standing, an age and the kind of name. The tone setting decides how ordinary the person is: everyday for ordinary people, mixed for mostly ordinary people with the odd quirk, and wild for quirks, curses and things that are not quite human.
The descriptions contain no game statistics, so they suit any fantasy tabletop game, and they stay gender neutral: the gender setting only chooses the kind of name. You do not need an account. If you like someone you rolled, use Keep to hold on to them for two weeks in your browser, or sign up free to add them to a campaign, with notes, a location and the rest of your world around them.
Yes. You can roll as many NPCs as you like without an account, and nothing you roll is saved on our servers unless you add it to a campaign.
Yes. Pick an occupation or type your own, then open More options to set social standing, age, the kind of name and the tone. Anything you leave on Random is rolled for you.
Yes. The descriptions are about the person, not their statistics, so you can use them with any fantasy game. For monster stat blocks, see the Monster Builder.
Use Keep under the NPC to hold on to them for two weeks in your browser. With a free account you can add an NPC to a new or existing campaign instead, and build on them there.
