Roll a place for your players to walk into: a tavern, inn, forge, shop, workshop, market, temple, guardhouse, library, docks, farm or manor. Each roll gives you a name, a description and the people who usually work there, so you can answer "what is it like inside?" without stopping the game.
Set the wealth of the place (poor, common, well-off or wealthy) and how busy it is, from no other patrons to crowded, and the description is written for them: a poor, empty tavern reads very differently from a wealthy, crowded one. Add the name of your town or city and it is written into the description, for instance a tavern in Saltmere.
Don't like the name? Roll a new one that suits the type and wealth, and the description is updated to match. Copy the description to paste it into your notes.
The generator is the same builder you get inside a campaign's Locations, where a place is connected to the people who work there. You do not need an account to use it. Keep a place for two weeks in your browser, or sign up free to add it to a campaign.
1. Open Locations and the location you want. Find its Staff section.2. Press Suggest the usual staff to add empty positions for the roles that place normally has (a tavern gets a tavern keeper, a cook and servers, for example). Not what you want? Use Add a role to pick any role for any place. Remove role takes one away.3. For each role, choose Add a new character or Use an existing character.4. When you add a new one, set the race and gender if you care (or leave them Any), pick the age group, then press Build. The site makes the person to fit the job.5. Tick Family of the owner and the character shares the owner's last name and race, and may look and act like them. Build the owner or leader first.6. Remove takes someone out of a role. They stay in your Characters list.Staff are hidden from players until you share them with Seen by.Tip: build the owner, then the family, then everyone else. Then open the character cards to adjust the details.
Yes. You can roll as many places as you like without an account, and nothing you roll is saved on our servers unless you add it to a campaign.
Taverns, inns, forges, shops, workshops, markets, temples, guardhouses, libraries, docks, farms and manors. Leave the type on Random to be surprised.
Wealth shapes how the place looks and feels, and the name it is given. Density sets how many other people are in it, from none to crowded. Both are written into the description.
